Prepare for the CAEC science test
35 questions in 90 minutes. The CAEC science test is less about memorizing facts and more about reading short passages, charts, and graphs, then reasoning from the data.

- 35 questions. Multiple choice. Many are based on a short passage, a chart, or a graph rather than a standalone fact recall.
- 90 minutes. Roughly 2.5 minutes per question, enough time to read the stimulus carefully.
- Reasoning over memorization. You don't need to memorize formulas or constants. You need to read science material accurately and draw the right conclusions.
- 55% to pass. Same passing standard as other CAEC subjects.
What the CAEC science test covers
Three broad science areas, plus a scientific-reasoning thread that runs through all of them.
Life science (biology)
Cells, genetics, evolution, ecosystems, human body systems, health and nutrition.
Earth and space science
Weather and climate, plate tectonics, the water cycle, the solar system, basic astronomy.
Physical science (chemistry and physics)
States of matter, basic chemical reactions, energy, motion, forces, electricity.
Scientific reasoning
Reading graphs and tables, evaluating experiments, interpreting data, distinguishing hypothesis from conclusion.

How long is the CAEC science test?
35 multiple-choice questions in 90 minutes. About 2.5 minutes per question.
Do I need to memorize formulas or constants?
Major formulas aren't required. The science test is designed to test scientific reasoning, reading data, interpreting graphs, evaluating experiments, not rote memorization.
Is there a periodic table or reference sheet?
Reference material is generally provided where needed for a specific question. You won't be expected to recall the full periodic table from memory.
What science topics are most heavily weighted?
The three areas (life, earth/space, physical) appear in roughly balanced proportions. Scientific reasoning questions are scattered throughout. Don't skip a topic, every area appears.
